Modern garden design

Harmonious garden design

The garden design is based on the polygonal architecture of this home and is reflected in the rounded shapes. Between the strong architecture of the house and the soft environment mediate the rounded shapes. Paths made of Saibro, a consolidated gravel surface, break up the garden. Trees were deliberately planted only in a few places. They frame the cozy lounge and create a sense of security. Right by the lavender and grass embankment, guests are greeted by a pretty "gatekeeper" - a blooming magnolia.

Contrasts between garden and house

When the white evergreens begin to bloom in spring, the delicate blossoms drape over the garden like a gauzy cloth. Lavender decorates the embankment over which a staircase leads from the street up to the garden. The fine flowers, together with the ornamental grasses, form a purple sea that welcomes every visitor with its lovely color.

Once at the top, you catch your first glimpse of the house. It becomes clear: Fascinating contrasts are what make up the effect of this garden. The facade, with its oxidized metal look, is cool, the polygonal structure extremely modern. In contrast, the planting was chosen very simple and uniform, yet playful and loose-light. Various ornamental grasses, hydrangeas, spherical holly bushes and curved gravel paths make up the ambience.

The art of omission

The special thing about this garden are the exciting and strong contrasts - and yet absolute harmony prevails. The guiding principle "less is more" is particularly evident in the restrained choice of plants and the uniform play of colors.

Finally, the client wanted the garden to provide enough space for their children to play and romp. The roof of the garage, which is located under the garden, was the ideal place for this. This is now the largest flat area - even large enough to play soccer. The right place was also found right away for the seating area, which is laid out with large-format floor tiles for the stability of tables and chairs: next to the house entrance and next to the kitchen. Life outside and inside can thus be combined quite easily.
