During this time, the peony reveals beautiful flowers in white, yellow and all colour combinations of red or pink. The Japanese varieties are particularly enchanting with their unfilled or semi-double flowers, while the European varieties of Paeonia exude a pompous atmosphere with their double calyxes. The deciduous peony develops decorative, light green leaves in spring, which are shed again before autumn. There is no doubt that Paeonia is therefore a real eye-catcher in the garden, especially in the spring months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Paeonia requires a sunny to semi-shady location and likes well-drained, moderately moist and nutrient-rich soil. This easy-care peony prefers a somewhat sheltered spot. Once in its place, the peony can delight its owner with numerous blooms every spring for decades.  Paeonia loses all its foliage in autumn, but survives the winter without any problems and sprouts again in spring.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:heading is particularly suitable as a single plant due to its impressive flowers. In combination with an early-flowering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartengestaltung.ch\/en\/allium-aflatunense-purple-sensation\/\">Ornamental leeks<\/a>, with its spheres seemingly floating in the air, interesting eye-catchers are achieved. Peonies often create wonderful colour effects in playful and romantic gardens alongside other shrubs with different flowering periods: The picture in the garden is constantly changing and the combination of shrubs provides colourful splashes of colour at all times. The peony is also a particular highlight in Japanese or Asian-style gardens, where it emphasises the exotic character of the garden. In principle, Paeonia also thrives in a planter and creates pretty accents in the garden or on the patio, but the robust plant then needs a sufficiently large pot.
