Terrace Zurich Oberland

Modern terrace in Zurich Oberland

One specification for the design of this terrace was that it should be absolutely low-maintenance. With the material combination of gravel, artificial wood and turf, the terrace design meets this wish. It always looks clean and shines in green. All the vessels are placed on gravel surfaces, so there is no imprint of water or light on the wooden floor. The evergreen shrubs in the front area give the terrace a fresh touch all year round.

Varied permeability

Despite the partially artificial materials, the terrace appears natural and floats like a small garden high above the rooftops. The reduced and unagitated design emphasizes the art of omission. The pruned solitary trees cover buildings and roofs in the surrounding area and attract attention. At the same time, they allow a certain permeability, which makes them appear light and not oppressive or constricting. The low conifers are joined by taller evergreen deciduous trees, creating an exciting interplay.

Living room under the open sky

The terrace is a real outdoor living room: the spacious lounge with fabric curtains on the eaves creates a cozy atmosphere and invites people to socialize. In the evening, too, a cozy living room atmosphere returns when the woody plants are illuminated, thus becoming an elegant complement to the large lanterns. To connect indoor and outdoor spaces, individual containers and Japanese maples on the side set accents in front of certain room windows.
