Elegant terrace design

Modern and simple

The fantastic view of Lake Zurich was the focus of this terrace design: the structured terrace was complemented and loosened up with harmonious details, while still allowing a view of the lake. A solitary hornbeam at the front of the terrace creates a space-defining accent. The uniform materialization in the open and covered parts of the terrace is seamlessly connected. A pre-greyed wooden deck ensures that the wood retains a uniform color in both the open and covered parts despite the weather.

Airy privacy screen

The delicate grasses in the long, narrow planters in the narrow corridor serve as an airy and natural privacy screen to the neighboring house. The planters on the glass front can be planted seasonally and thus always provide new highlights. The grass borders in the front corners with their low-growing shrubs and grasses create a harmonious, natural look and a smooth transition between the terrace and the lake.

The terrace under construction

The covered and open parts of the terrace are seamlessly connected by a uniform materialization. A pre-greyed wood was used for the wooden deck so that the wood does not change unevenly to the covered part of the terrace due to weathering in the open part. The solitary hornbeam creates a strong space-forming accent and, with its small crown, provides a view both above and below.

The view to the south is characterized by the open and unobstructed lake view. The two grass borders on the left and right front corners are planted with low-growing pennisetum ('Little Bunny') to create a flowing transition between the terrace and the lake, perfectly concealing the steel borders. The low-growing shrubs in the planters provide accents: Pinus on the left and a maple on the right.
The materialization allows the covered and uncovered terrace areas to merge into one another.
