Modern terrace in the Zurich Oberland
One of the requirements for the design of this patio was that it should be absolutely low-maintenance. With the material combination of gravel, artificial wood and turf, the patio design fulfils this requirement. It always looks clean and shines in green. All the planters are placed on gravel so that no marks can be made on the wooden floor by water or light. The evergreen shrubs at the front give the patio a fresh touch all year round.
Varied permeability
Despite the partly artificial materials, the terrace appears natural and floats like a small garden high above the rooftops. The reduced and unagitated design emphasises the art of omission. The lined up solitary trees cover the buildings and roof areas in the neighbourhood and attract attention. At the same time, they provide a certain permeability, which makes them appear light and not oppressive or constricting. The low conifers are joined by taller, evergreen deciduous trees, creating an exciting interplay.
Living room under the open sky
The terrace is a real outdoor living room: the spacious lounge with fabric curtains on the eaves creates a cosy atmosphere and invites you to linger and socialise. A cosy living room atmosphere is also created in the evening when the trees are illuminated, elegantly complementing the large lanterns. To link the interior and exterior spaces, individual containers and Japanese maples on the side create accents in front of certain room windows.
