A garden oasis in the centre of a winery

Wine tasting in a garden oasis

This garden is not only enjoyed by the owners, but also by their guests. At the back of the garden are five rows of vines, which are used for the company’s own wine production, among other things. After the redesign, the garden was therefore to provide a spacious and unique area for wine tastings. Where there was previously an unsuitable meadow, there is now a U‑shaped wooden deck in front of the existing and unique conservatory.

In addition to a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains, this green oasis also offers an acoustic highlight: the fountain in the middle of the gravel area is the centre of the garden and forms a beautiful conclusion to the vines. The natural stone wall to the side of the fountain can be used as a seating element and provides additional structure to the garden. In last year’s video, this special fountain was presented during the remodelling. The fire pit next to the fountain gives the garden a very special atmosphere at dusk.

Visit the website of Cumme wine and find out how you too can enjoy this garden.

Fountain as a central element

The centrepiece is the large fountain and the half-height natural stone wall, which sets the scene for the vines at the back of the garden. As a connecting element, stepping slabs are laid in the gravelled area, which surround the fountain and the seating wall. At the same time, this emphasises the visual axis between the fountain, walls and vines. This allows the clients to enjoy a wonderful view from the conservatory all year round. The natural stone used for the fountain and the seating wall as well as the wooden deck all around blend harmoniously into the surroundings. The water feature lends the garden additional naturalness and draws the eye to the marvellous view beyond.

Framing with plants

The new planting emphasises the simple and elegant style of the garden. The two existing spherical Norway maples were retained and two more were added at the end of one of the wooden deck wings. The two newly planted trees provide shade for the seating wall on the gravelled area. As the rear part of the garden is an agricultural zone, the garden was visually separated by a planting strip. The existing row of vines at the side of the privacy wall was replanted. Groups of evergreen and flowering shrubs now accompany the natural garden on both sides. The purple lavender around the new wooden deck adds a subtle splash of colour to the garden.
