Family garden with natural flair

Natural cosiness

The family garden on two levels provides a natural habitat for native insects and birds and also provides space to linger. The client wanted a garden that could be used in a variety of ways. The newly created gravel seating area on the upper level offers natural contours and blends harmoniously into the surroundings. A natural stone wall increases privacy and also serves as an area for decorations, containers and lanterns. A single-sided pergola, which will be covered with plants from behind over time, offers airy shade and provides additional cosiness. A low seating wall in the background frames an existing tree. The stone wall is broken up by flowering shrubs, herbs and grasses. Stepping stones and thyme cushions in the gravel provide additional naturalness. A special eye-catcher is a shallow, elongated water basin with a spout, which provides a habitat for newts thanks to the low water level and coarse stones.

Versatile garden areas

The lower garden level offers a usable area for the whole family with a lawn and children’s play equipment. A small seating area and an additional kitchen garden combine the cosy with the practical. A raised bed made of natural stone conceals the concrete wall behind it. The raised bed also offers additional space for vegetables, herbs and vines. A lush flower meadow, from which you can look out over the mountains and down into the village, gives you the feeling of being in a colourful mountain meadow. After mowing, the flower meadow can also be used for ball games. Hidden in the flower meadow is a small gravelled area surrounded by shrubs and rock pears, which provide pleasant shade.
