Possible uses for wood in the garden

Wooden deck as an easy-care surface

A wooden garden seating area is not only easy to maintain and durable, but also creates a particularly warm atmosphere in the garden. The versatile natural product does not get too warm on hot summer days when the sun is shining strongly and does not get as cold as stone slabs, for example, in cool weather. A deck also divides the garden and creates a sense of space in the open air. A wooden deck is suitable for both the garden and the conservatory.

Entire patio floors can also be lined with wood, creating a natural and warm ambience.

Wooden walkway — A natural path through the garden oasis

A wooden walkway is a nice alternative to a classic garden path made of slabs or gravel. It can also be used to overcome small differences in height. However, it mainly serves as a connection between different garden areas or leads through the garden in a harmonious and original way. The warm natural product blends in perfectly with its surroundings and is an absolute eye-catcher. A wooden footbridge also looks very attractive as a guide to the water or even as a small footbridge over a body of water.

Wooden pool surround

With a wooden pool surround, the natural element of water is given even more expression. The wood radiates a warm and modern look and also has the advantage that it does not heat up too much despite the sunlight and can be walked on at any time, even with bare feet. The pool technology can also be stored inconspicuously under the wooden deck.

Wooden pavilion

A fixed pavilion is traditionally built from wood. The house without complete side walls fits perfectly into the garden in its natural form and blends in with the surroundings. In our example of a garden with a pavilion, the retreat has become the focal point of the oasis of peace and provides additional privacy and a harmonious boundary to the neighbouring property.

Pergola and pergolas: robust and natural

The versatile natural product wood is also ideal for a protective pergola. A garden seating area with a pergola looks cosy and aesthetically pleasing. Overgrown with climbing plants, the pergola forms a protective roof for cosy hours in pleasant shade. However, an original pergola that connects two different garden areas and can also be planted with climbing plants creates a very special eye-catcher in the garden.

Garden steps: Warm and timeless

Stairs are often used in garden design to compensate for differences in height or to connect individual garden areas. Instead of plain gravel or concrete steps, wooden steps create a unique and warm flair. In combination with the planting, the desired ambience is also created. In our reference garden „Villa garden with lush planting“ For example, the many grasses and flowering shrubs create a maritime flair.

Combination of wood and water

Wood as a natural product creates wonderful effects, especially in combination with water. A wooden deck by the pool or pond, for example, creates an unrivalled natural feeling and a particularly warm and natural atmosphere and almost looks like a very private raft.

Which wood is suitable for the garden or patio?

Wood has different properties depending on the tree species. In principle, it should be weather-resistant for outdoor use and the degree of hardness also plays a role depending on the area of application. The domestic woods robinia, Douglas fir and larch have a sufficient degree of hardness and withstand weathering relatively well. The wood is pre-treated for additional protection and therefore remains beautiful for longer. Pre-greyed wood is particularly practical: it looks greyish from the outset and retains this natural appearance for years.

We use Ipé or Sipo wood especially in the pool area. These woods are particularly durable and provide an elegant finish for outdoor areas. Each of our pool references was realised with one of these woods.
