For the third time, Callwey Verlag and the magazine «Garten + Landschaft» were on the lookout for the most beautiful private gardens in German-speaking countries and organised a competition among landscape architecture and garden and landscaping firms. Exactly 50 of all the projects submitted were selected and summarised in the book «Gardens of the Year 2018». With over 350 images and garden plans, the book presents an impressive variety of very different private gardens. The exhibition of the same name at Schloss Dyck in Jüchen will also showcase all 50 particularly successful, realised private gardens from 8 February to 23 March 2018. The competition is one of the most important industry events and offers garden planners and garden owners alike excellent inspiration.
When selecting the most beautiful private gardens, particular emphasis was placed on holistic concepts that allow the garden to become an extended living and enjoyment space for the user in an individual way. There should be a strong idea behind it, to which plants and materials are subordinate. We successfully took part in the competition with two of our reference projects. The first reference project — a garden on a slope — impresses with its unusual combination of materials and provides a cosy retreat. The second reference object has a flowing transition between the neighbouring edge of the forest and the structured garden. Both reference projects are illustrated in the book «Gardens of the Year 2018».
